Film Corner ~ Speed

So, I'm trying something different. I know this is a "Writing Corner" but I have a lot of work to do so I can't really post the usual posts or even Sketchcrap, so I'm doing these quick unedited reviews. 1. Speed Scale: -10 to 10 Quality: 7 (85%) Quality Summary: The stunts and practical effects were very pleasing to the eye, a rare occurence for an action movie. The acting was very real and, hell- this whole movie feels real . I only take off points because the movie stays very safe and I feel that experimentation, while always being a risk, would help this movie feel a little bit less bland. Characters: 4 (60%) Character Summary: The characters were fine. I mean, the plot in this case was more engaging than the characters and it's clear that the focus is the plot, but I feel like some chemistry and development would be nice. Again, I know it's an action movie, and character development is a rarity among that genre, but... still. Also, Jack and...

I feel especially bad about this one. By the end of January I'll have a December-January art portfolio for the few art pieces that I care about, but for now we're just going to have to work together with this half-assed filler. Random Info- Shading: No Color: Extremely little Effort: 12% Songs I Was Listening To: Sixth Avenue Heartache (forgot who did this) Stuff I Was Thinking About: The Skypeak Series, whose first book is 1/3 finished as of now!

You might notice this is a new kind of post. Well, it is. I'm planning on posting art of actual quality every month in a huge post, but until then I'm starting this series of deliberately half-assed drawings. Using a prompt, I'm drawing random furry characters to try to keep myself happy before I move on to a real project... filler, if you will. Random Info- Shading: Yes Color: Yes Effort: 26% Songs I Was Listening To: Cryin' (Aerosmith), Radioactive (Imagine Dragons) Stuff I Was Thinking About: Fillerbunny

Writer's Corner #3: Taking Breaks

Writer's Corner #3 Taking Breaks I: The Effects of Stress "None of us like stress-" is that a reasonable statement? While each of us handles the stress of our daily lives differently, the negative effects stress has on health stays the same. It prevents you from feeling happy and makes hobbies feel more like a chore. In fact, you could even compare being under a lot of stress to a sort of mini-depression. Heck, it might even be the cause of depression for some people. Here I've listed the many problems that come with stress: - body pains like headaches, chest pain, and an upset stomach are common symptoms of stress - other negative effects include anxiety, lack of motivation, and anger II: Procrastination Of course, taking too long a break can lead to... issues. The short breaks can be a mistake, and lead to necessary work being incomplete. This is an issue especially for students, as taking a break from creative writing can also mean taking a break from ...

Writer's Corner #2: Criticism

Writer's Corner #2 Criticism I: What is Criticism? Such an easy question, right? I mean, criticism is when someone says something bad about your work. At least, that's the definition everyone seems to attach to this word. And, yes, you're right, but it gets more specific than that.  Constructive Criticism: This should be your favorite one to receive. Not only does it tell you what could use fixing with your literary piece, but it is also worded in a way that you don't feel bad or want to spit a retort. An example of this would be, "I really liked the suspense in the story, but you are focusing on the eyes a bit too much. I would recommend also describing other body languages, like their hands or feet. Other than that, I really like it!" Blunt Criticism: This is a bit hard to take, but is still useful. It tells you what is wrong with your story but doesn't provide any padding to soften the blow. This DOESN'T mean you should respond in a...
